As a service to the community, Bowhunters Unlimited provides a single shooter with a free one-time lesson.

The lesson covers an introduction to archery and the range at Steven’s Creek Park.


The free lessons are offered on the first Sunday of each month, starting in March and ending in October, between 11 A.M. and 4 P.M

Group lessons will require a fee but can be booked at a time suitable for your group.

As free lesson slots are limited, reservations can be made by submitting the contact form at the bottom. You may only take the free lesson once.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need my own equipment?
    • ​​Yes. You must bring your own archery equipment to use at the range. In the past, we have provided equipment for use during this introductory session which is unavailable at this time due to safety restrictions.

  • What does the lesson include?
    • ​​The introductory session includes an explanation of all the basic archery equipment, safe and proper use of the equipment, proper body alignment and shooting form, and an explanation of the Steven’s Creek Archery Range set-up and operating procedures.

      The instructors can also answer any questions you might have about where and how to obtain your own archery equipment and further instruction or coaching, if desired.

      By the end of the session, you will feel confident enough in your shooting to pursue the sport of archery in greater depth at your leisure.

  • How long is the lesson?
    • ​​​​Generally, you should expect to spend about an hour learning the basics of archery and the archery range.

  • What is the cost for group lessons?
    • ​​Group lessons are available for groups of five or more people. The group cost is $20 per person. Contact us for large groups or corporate events. If you're not part of a group, you can get a free lesson once by making a reservation as explained at the top.

  • How do I schedule a group lesson?
    • ​​​​As group lessons are set up for a time of your choosing, and subject to availability of the teachers, please call Debbie at 408-807-9418 for the request.
